Review: Toolbox for New Dads DVD

Before our girls were born, we never really took any special parenting or child care classes. We figured we could read the required books and somehow figure things out on our own. Even though I think we've done a pretty good job so far, I wish we had viewed this DVD back then.

Armin Brott, an expert on fathers and families, has created this amazing DVD which should be required of every parent to view before the birth of their first child. In this DVD, Brott talks to a group of expectant Dads and lays it on the line what they can expect. His honest and straight-forward ways really help them to understand what they're in for - the good and the bad.

What I really liked about this was that not only did he discuss basic child care subjects like bathing, feeding, diapering, burping, etc, but he also talked about topics that are usually not covered.

For example, the financial side of fatherhood. Brott talks candidly about Dads who work long hours in wanting to provide for their family. However, is this really worth it if Dad is never home to bond with his kids? Brott suggests that families try to cut back and do without the extra things so that Dad can be home more. After all, it's the quality family time that the kids really want in the first place.

He also talks about how intimate relationships change and that it shouldn't be taken personally. I think that Dads will tend to listen and understand this more coming from another guy.

This DVD is sectioned off into different areas with sub-categories for each one. It's easy to follow along and even skip around to the parts that you'd be more interested in.

I highly recommend Toolbox for New Dads for all new parents. Thank you to Parent Bloggers Network for this opportunity.
