Review: Phonics 4 Babies

At 22 months, Baby Bug is still lacking in the area of speech. She can say a handful of words but only if you ask her to. She won't take the initiative to ask for something specifically. So when the opportunity came up to review Phonics 4 Babies: Baby's First Words, I was thrilled.

Mallory Lewis hosts this colorful and upbeat series along with her Tummy Tot friends as she introduces us to words, phrases, letters, shapes and more. Role playing is an intricate part of how these lessons are communicated as characters play out every day life for babies and children. And they do so in a fun and caring way.

This DVD contains two half-hour episodes with each one formatted in short learning segments divided by games and songs. The games strive to involve the audience by asking them to find objects, say words, or try different movements.

When I first showed this video to Baby Bug, she was totally mesmerized. I have to admit that I really enjoyed it, too. The upbeat songs just makes you want to sing along! I'm not sure how much Baby Bug will actually learn from this video since it's too soon to tell. However, the fact that it draws her attention is a great start! Plus, anything that takes us away from Barney is welcomed in my home!

Thank you to Parent Bloggers Network for this opportunity!
