5 Reasons the Best Writers Come From Hawaii
- There is such a diverse cultural community here that could provide endless character possibilities.
- We live on Hawaiian Time. This means that we move at a slower pace which allows us lots of time to think of ideas.
- A writer could take a walk down Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki and interview people from all over the world.
- Since we live on such a small island, writers are forced to tap into their imaginations about life outside Hawaii.
- If you're not into water sports or outdoor activities, there really isn't much else to do here!
Tied to the Tracks by Rosina Lippi. July 3, 2007. ISBN: 0425215326
"[This] is a hilarious, smart, sexy novel with a heart of gold." -- Susan Wiggs
"[Lippi] turns her buoyant creative talents to the romantic comedy genre with an effervescent tale of a trio of offbeat Yankee filmmakers plunked down deep in the heart of Dixie." -- Booklist
Read an excerpt. (Adobe Reader required)| Watch the book trailer
You can find Tied to the Tracks at Amazon , Barnes & Nobel, Borders, Powells, or at your local independent bookseller.

The Fairy Chronicles
The Fairy Chronicles is a brand new chapter book series written by J.H. Sweet. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to recieve a free advance copy of the following titles to read and review:
Dragonfly and the Web of Dreams
Marigold and the Feather of Hope, The Journey Begins
The Fairy Chronicles are about a group of tiny winged fairies who, to the public, appear to be normal little girls. However, when in fairy form, they possess special gifts which help them serve and protect nature from evil beings.
In Dragonfly and the Web of Dreams, there's something strange going on in people's dreams. It's up to the fairies to find out what is causing the destruction of the Dream Web and how to fix it. What they don't know is that the cause could be right under their noses.
In Marigold and the Feather of Hope, we meet Beth, the newest fairy. This should be a fun and exciting time for Beth - learing about her new gifts that come with being a fairy. However, the Brownies (boy fairies) have lost the Feather of Hope. They enlist the help of the Fairies to retrieve the feather from the nasty gremlins. If together, they can't get it back, all hope on Earth will be lost.
In my opinion, The Fairy Chronicles was a very entertaining and fun read. It will appeal especially to the younger tween aged group of girls who enjoy reading about mystical tales. After all, what little girl doesn't want to be a fairy? In addition, the larger font size makes it easier to read and will provide a sense of accomplishment when the child sees how fast they can read through this book.
Why not check it out for yourself? I will be giving away a free copy of Dragonfly and the Web of Dreams. To enter, just leave a comment below before June 22nd and I will randomly select a winner.
For more information about The Fairy Chronicles, please visit their webisite.

The Rolling Stones Biggest Bang DVD Set
Who doesn't love the Rolling Stones? They're the classic rock band. So when I was approached to do a review on their latest DVD release, I was thrilled!
This amazing DVD set includes seven hours of concert footage, including two full-length concerts—one filmed in Austin, Texas, and one filmed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil—with performances of such Stones classics as “Satisfaction” and “Sympathy For the Devil.”
It also contains two behind-the-scenes documentaries and rare performances such as duets with Eddie Vedder and Bonnie Raitt, as well as previously unreleased tracks “Get Up, Stand Up” and “Mr. Pitiful” from a 2005 Toronto performance.
What I really enjoyed about this DVD set is the opportunity to view the emotional roller coaster associated with a world tour and real-life everyday practices of these musical legends.
What a great Father's Day gift idea for all those Rolling Stones fans out there! This 4-DVD set goes on sale today exclusively at all Best Buy locations including their online website for only $29.99.
Hurry, Father's Day will be here before you know it!

Rocketfish Twister Laser Mouse
What a great gift idea for Father's Day!
This cool 2.4 GHz notebook wireless mouse with 4 programmable buttons is perfect for anyone who's on-the-go. It measures 3 1/4" H by 2 1/4" W and weighs less than an ounce!
You can store it flat in it's carrying case for easy travel and with a simple 180 degree twist, it's ready to use. Simple! The USB receiver is stored inside the mouse chassis so you won't have any little pieces to keep track of. It runs on 2 AAA batteries (included) and automatically turns itself off when the USB receiver is stored inside of its compartment.
This wireless mouse uses a Precision Laser Stream technology with a scroll flat panel so it's navigation is quiet and smooth - just like your notebook's trackpad.
I was thrilled to be able to test drive this product for free since I got a new Sony Viao laptop for Mother's Day. I initially got a regular mouse for it but it's such a hassle to take it with me on layovers. The Twister Laser Mouse was really easy to set-up. All I needed to do was install the program and I was up and running in minutes.
MY OPINION: I LOVE IT!
This is an exclusive product of Best Buy and is now selling for $44.99. Stop by their online site for more information.
Hurry! Father's Day is June 17th.

iPod Mania
Remember when the Sony Walkman was the "in" thing? Back in the early 1980's, the original Walkman introduced a change in music listening habits, allowing people to carry their own choice of music with them. No longer were we restricted to whatever the radio stations were playing. We now had a say as to what we listened to on-the-go.
Then in October 2001, Apple came out with their own version of the portable media player - the iPod. Who knew this would start a whole new revolution? As of April 2007, the iPod has sold over 100 million units worldwide. Almost everybody has one - including me.
The most important feature for me is the size. It's small enough to fit into my pocket which allows me to take it everywhere. It comes in very handy when I'm waiting in the terminal for my flights because it makes me a little more unapproachable to passengers wanting to know why their flight's been delayed (just kidding).
I also bought an icar cable which allows me to connect my iPod to my car radio. This eliminates the need to carry around all those bulky CDs and cases. It's also much easier now to find songs that I want to play. This is a great thing considering I'm not the best driver in the world.
And last but not least, it's great for Girlie Girl. We got her a shuffle awhile back and she loves it. I put all her songs on it and she can now listen to whatever she wants when we're driving to school. Don't worry, I periodically check the volume to make sure it's not too loud. An iPod may be a little extravagant for a 5 year old but not having to listen to the Cheetah Girls for the hundredth time - priceless.
If you're one of the few people out there that have not gotten an iPod yet, here's your chance. Best Buy is now offering an Apple 4GB iPod Nano and Chocolate Gift Set for only $189.99. An iPod and chocolate? What a great combination! This great gift set comes packaged in a mod polka-dot-patterned box inspired by the prism of iPod nano colors. Hurry and get yours while they're still available.
For those who already own an iPod, which one do you have and why do you love it?

Bounty One Sheet Challenge
As you know, the first one was the Fruity Cheerios which my family loves!
This time, take the Bounty One Sheet Challenge and you could win a $30,000 kitchen makeover. Now who wouldn't want that? All you need to do is put one sheet of Bounty to work on your toughest mess and share your results.
If you're like me and my family, messes are a daily thing around here - especially during meal times. I don't know if it's the "second baby syndrome", but once Baby Bug was on solids, I would just let her feed herself. Of course, this resulted in a mess but it also allowed me to quickly eat my meal. Having a roll of Bounty at hand became very useful. I could pretty much clean her and the mess up with just one wet sheet. It worked like a charm.
That's why I was thrilled to receive a free roll in the mail. You can bet I'm going to put it to good use.
What's your secret to cleaning up messes around your home?
