If you have a little ballerina living in your home, she's going to love this!

"In between each act, the children return home, dress up in fun pretty tutus, and learn a simple ballet step. My daughters enjoyed this interactive DVD and the narration by Prima Princessa helped them understand the story behind Swan Lake. Even I learned a few new things! Review: The Savvy Source & LeapFrog

As a parent of a child who has a love learning, I was very interested in finding out more about The Savvy Source for Parents.

The Savvy Source is a place where parents can go for endless resources on topics such as educational resources, toys & games, classes & activities, books, and many other helpful topics. This site is geared towards parents of younger children and also includes interactive educational quizzes to help you identify your child's strong areas as well as those they need a little help with.

The cool thing about The Savvy Source is the Preschool Assessment Guide. It's a tool where you answer a few questions and it will produce a customized guide of books, games, & activities based on where your child's development is right now. There are different areas to explore which includes visual arts, science, abc's, music, early math, social skills, movement & coordination, and time & space. It will also keep track of the child's progress throughout the program.

We tried a couple of the quizzes - visual arts & music. The quizzes consisted of about 10 multiple choice questions long and didn't take very long to complete. Once you're done, you'll immediately get your results and a list of books & activities gears towards your results.

As a part of this campaign, I was also fortunate to be able to review the Leapfrog Tag Reading System. Basically, it's a computerized wireless pen-type instrument that reads as your child points to the words.

Installing the program wasn't as easy as I thought it would be and it took longer than expected to download and set-up. However, once that was done, everything worked perfectly. My older daughter loved that she could use the pen to figure out words she didn't know without having to ask for help. My younger girl was amazed that it "talked" to her and help to reinforce her alphabet recognization. It came with a few books including Kung Fu Panda which was a big hit with my girls!

Finally, you see that cool Savvy Widget in my sidebar? Answer those 2 questions and you're on your way to improving your child's learning skills with fun activities for the whole family!

Thank you to the Parent Bloggers Network for this cool review opportunity!

This giveaway is now closed. Thank you for your participation.
The winner is Frugonomics 101!
Congratulations!

What child doesn't love Build-A-Bear Workshop? I know my girls can't walk past the store without insisting on going in. That's why I don't know how we got so lucky to be able to review the newly released Tropical Hello Kitty by Sanrio.

When it arrived in it's cute little cardboard home, Girlie Girl's first comment was, "Wow, she's so soft." And she was! It was all I could do not to keep squishing her! She had on a cute little demin skirt and tee that said "Hello Kitty Hawaii" on it. The outfit was completed with a pink flower on her left ear. I guess that means she's not available, huh?

Did you know that Build-A-Bear Workshop has a flickr album dedicated just to Hello Kitty? Stop by and check out all the new homes she has! Can you guess which is my photo?

To celebrate her arrival, Build-A-Bear has generously donated a $25 gift card to be used at their store. To enter:

Review & Giveaway: Stardust Lullaby CD

This giveaway is now closed. Thank you for your participation.
The winners are Kari of The redhead in the corner? That's me
& Katie of Crafts by Katie.
Congratulations!

I'm always looking for ways to make bedtime a little easier for the girls and for myself. That's why I was thrilled to receive a copy of Stardust Lullaby - Audible Chocolate for Sweet Dreams.

From the site: "Award-winning singer/songwriter siblings, Cher & Gene Klosner, have just completed their fourth CD, Stardust, a 2-disc collection of lullabies for all ages. Stardust features Cher & Gene Klosner’s trademark rich, lilting vocals accompanied by the talents of several members of the Omaha Symphony and Omaha Conservatory of Music, and top shelf jazz players."

Being a jazz lover myself, I especially enjoyed this wonderful musical compilation. The 2-disc set included familiar lullabies which the girls could relate to as well as brand new songs that are sure to become some of our family's favorites. The best part is that it's all presented in a way that not only appeals to children but to parents as well. No matter how hectic my day was, I found myself starting to relax to these very soothing tunes.

It also came with a lyric book for those like me who sometimes forget the words. Thank goodness since my girls think I know everything! LOL!

Now for the good part, Stardust Lullaby has generously donated two (2) copies to be given away to some very lucky people!
  • To enter, just stop by the Stardust Lullaby site before midnight, June 11th and check out their playlist. Then come back and mention which song is your favorite. That's it!
  • A random winner will then be selected and notified on June 12th.

Review & Giveaway: My Fruit Roll-Ups

When I was younger, Fruit Roll-Ups came in different colors and flavors but other than that were pretty generic. That's why I was surprised to see that you can now personalize them with an image and message to fit any occasion! How cool is that?

And I found it to be really easy to do. Basically, I just went to their website and chose to "Make My Design". I selected one of the endless choices of images which included general pictures as well as specific ones for holidays, graduation, birthdays, new baby, & announcements. Then you type in a simple message, view your creation, and hit the "Order Now" button. That's it! Not only was it easy but it was also kind of fun to do!

A couple of days later, I received an email saying they were on their way to Hawaii. I can hardly wait to see it in person! I personalized my order for Girlie Girl to give to her classmates on the last day of school. I bet they'll be really surprised! What a great gift idea!

Want to win some for yourself? My Fruit Roll-Ups is giving away a carton (30-count) of these delicious treats to one lucky winner. To enter, just stop by their site before June 9th and check out all their cool designs. Then come back and mention in comments which design you'd use if you won. That's it! A random winner will be selected and notified on June 10th. The winner will then have 3 days to claim their prize.

Okay, I have to admit that I've never heard of Avatar before. *gasp!* But in my defense, I have 2 little girls who prefer ballerinas and princesses. So I was shocked at the response from my sister's family when I mentioned I was giving away the brand new Avatar DVD. My niece and nephew started bombarding me with all kinds of facts about the show! Even my BIL was excited until I told him that my family was not eligible. :-(

From the site: "In this highly anticipated release, the eclipse has come but where is the Firelord? Aang searches frantically for him, but finds trouble instead. The kids are forced to flee the Fire Nation Palace with Azula and her war ships hot on their heels. At the Western Air Temple, a surprise mentor joins them and offers to be Aang's Firebending teacher. Together the new team must figure out a way to get Aang back in the fight."

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a 123-minute DVD which features audio commentaries by the series' creators and crew, an exclusive mini comic book, and five new episodes. Review & Giveaway: The Rookie Mom's Handbook

This giveaway is now closed. Thank you for your participation.
The winner is Shannon of The Buchmann Update. Congratulations!

Before I had Girlie Girl, I remember thinking that I would never be able to leave the house with her by myself. How in the world would I be able to handle lugging all the equipment? What happens when I can't find a place to nurse her? What if she just.won't.stop.crying?

Of course, one she arrived all I wanted to do was get out of the house for some fresh air and maybe a White Chocolate Mocha from Starbucks. I looked in all the local publications for Mommy & Me type activities but didn't find much available. What I wouldn't have done for The Rookie Mom's Handbook by Heather Gibbs Flett and Whitney Moss.

From the book: Bookstores are filled with activity books for babies and toddlers, but The Rookie Mom's Handbook is the only one designed exclusively for first-time mothers. Here are 250 enjoyable activities to help rookie moms maintain their individuality and boost their confidence about leaving the house, socializing, and doing things they always liked to do - either with or without baby.

What I loved about this book are the many great suggestions that you probably would have never thought of on your own. You know they're there but sometimes you just need a little reminder. The Rookie Mom's Handbook is written in small bite-sized pieces for your convenience and organized by baby's age. Reading can't get any easier than this!

The only problem I had was reading the dark purple text on the light purple background. It's very pretty to look at but it was a little hard on my eyes. But then again, it could just be me.

To celebrate this wonderful book, a blog blast will be held from May 9th till 11th where you could win a fantastic gift bag filled with more than $250 worth of goodies for moms, including the brand new BABYBJÖRN® Baby Carrier Synergy, a child’s gardening kit from Smith & Hawken, a baby tshirt from Scout Organic Baby, and of course, a copy of The Rookie Mom’s Handbook. For more information on how to enter stop by the Parent Bloggers Network today!

Now for my giveaway, how would you like a copy of The Rookie Mom's Handbook for yourself or for another brand new mom?
  • To enter, just leave a comment below saying what's your favorite activity to do with your child. If you don't have a child yet, then what's the one thing you're looking forward to doing with your future child?

Review & Giveaway: Tera's Dawn & Unicorn Races

This giveaway is now closed. Thank you for your participation.
The winner is Samsakara. Congratulations!

Tera's Dawn, written by Susan K. Schank, is about a young mare who loves to run free among the countryside. Then one day, she gets caught by ranchers and trained to be a plow horse on their farm. Her misery eventually turns to happiness when she makes an amazing discovery!

Even though Girlie Girl isn't a big fan of horses, she loved the way Tera overcame adversity and found her wish eventually coming true. A great book that your entire family will love.

If you have a child who loves fantasies, this is the perfect picturebook! In Unicorn Races, written by Stephen J. Brooks, every night after going to bed a young girl enters the imaginary world of unicorns among the stars. Riding as a princess on the back of a unicorn, she oversees amazing races past the moon, stars, and other exciting sights.

The best part of this book is the beautiful water-color pictures that makes you feel like you're right there in the action. Definitely one of the best books we've read in a long time!

How would you like to win both of these books for your family's library? Oh, and did I mention that they're both signed by the authors? Cool, huh? To enter, just stop by Purple Sky Publishing before midnight, May 5th and check out their other wonderful children's books. Then come back here and mention one that you find interesting. That's it! Review & Giveaway: Huggies Clean Team

This giveaway is now closed. Thank you for your participation.
The winners are alyssasmommy2007 & Tiff of Three Peas in a Pod.
Congratulations!

Ever since Girlie Girl was born 6 years ago, we've been a loyal Huggies family. It was the first product we tried in the endless brands of diapers and since it worked well for us, we never thought to switch.

So when I had the opportunity to try out some of their new products in the Cleanteam line-up, I was thrilled! Their brand new mascots and colorful packaging actually make my kids want to wash up. Now that's something to get excited about!

Flushable Moist Wipes - Freddy Flamingo is in charge of making sure the whole Cleanteam is spic 'n span. However, his specialty is giving your kids a little independence by letting them finish up all by themselves with these pre-moistened, flushable, blue melon scented wipes. Girlie Girl loved the convenience of the pop-up container and it's easy for her little hands to use.

Hand Soap - Henry Hippo is one of my favorites because he comes equipped with a 20 second light-up timer to make sure my girls are thoroughly washing their hands. Henry works really well with Freddy Flamingo during potty times.

Extra Conditioning Shampoo - Now, Sammy Snake is an optimist and believes that everything will eventually work itself out. His special talent is making sure my girls scalp and hair are super shiny! And since the conditioner is already in the shampoo, that eliminates an extra step. I'm all for that! Sammy is tear-free and comes in a handy flip-top dispenser.

After reading all of that, I bet you can't wait to try it for yourself! Well, you're in luck. The Huggies Cleanteam is offering 2 sets of the products reviewed above. To enter, just stop by the Huggies Cleanteam site before midnight April 27th and check out their new products. Then come back and mention which mascot is your favorite. That's it! Two random winners will be selected and notified on April 28th. The winners will then have 3 days to claim their prize.

To earn extra entries, just subscribe to my feed and/or mention this giveaway on your blog with a link back here and to Huggies Cleanteam. Please let me know if you're doing/did the extra credit so I can make sure you're entered properly. Also, don't forget to leave a way to contact you in case you win.

Review & Giveaway: Quarterback Dad

This giveaway is now closed. Thank you for your participation.
The winner is Danielle of Searching for Sanity.
Congratulations!

I recently had the opportunity to read the book Quarterback Dad by Bobby Mercer and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The book is written using many football terms which Dads will find themselves relating to. The Dad is called The Quarterback, Mom is The Teammate, and the baby-to-be is Future Star or 1st Round Draft Pick. It's written in a very simple yet humorous tone that even Mommies will find entertaining.

From the book: "You've just signed a new star player to your home team - but are you really ready for kickoff? With Quarterback Dad, you can suit up and take the field with the cool competence of an All Star! From learning the plays to clinching the playoffs, you'll triumph every yard of the way."

But it's more than entertaining, it's informative. This book talks about everything from the moment you find out the exciting news, to shopping for the nursery, morning sickness, baby showers, dealing with mood swings, delivery, nursing, talking to the pediatrician, and everything else involved with a brand new baby. And it's all delivered (so to speak) in a way that guys can understand. How cool is that?

How would you like a copy for yourself? To enter, just stop by Quarterback Dad's official site before April 23rd then come back and mention one newborn/toddler tip listed there. That's it! A random winner will be selected and notified on April 24th. The winner will then have 3 days to claim their prize.

To earn extra entries, just subscribe to my feed and/or mention this giveaway on your blog with a link back here and to Quarterback Dad. Please let me know if you're doing the extra credit so I can make sure you're entered properly. Also, don't forget to leave a way to contact you in case you win.

Review: Barney's ABCs

Like most parents, I've grown pretty tired of Barney over the years. However, my kids love him so I try to endure.

Barney: Animal ABC's was actually a nice surprise. Baby Bug loves all kinds of animals and that's what Barney uses to go through the alphabet in this newly released DVD. It was able to hold her attention and she wanted to watch it over and over again. Eventually, she started recognizing and reciting the animal name before Barney did. Now that was pretty cool!

What I really liked is that they used footage of real life animals, not drawings. This really helps her associate the word with the subject.

Fun and educational - what more could you want?

Thank you to the Parent Bloggers Network for another great review opportunity.
